Is Podcasting Art or Journalism? An Update!
What's inspiring me today, new projects at Chorus Studios, and future episodes
Happy Friday Everyone! I thought I would hop on to give a little update and share something (or someone) that’s inspiring me to become a better podcast producer.
But first…Where have I been? This pod-blog thing is supposed to be monthly, right!? Yes, yes, you are right! I’ve been a bit distracted by a new, and not so little, podcast client in NYC the past 3 months. I spent three weeks in NYC last month and had the opportunity to record with this new client in person twice. I can’t wait to share that new project. Hint: it has to do with sustainable real estate.
In true start-up fashion, my dear friend Lauren flew up to help me run the shoot! (See fun selfie of us getting coffee with all of our equipment at 7:30am in NYC.)
Also! We at The World Changing Podcast released an awesome episode with one of my sustainability and podcasting heroes - Julia Pyper. Check it out here.
Ok, so, TheFormat. I’m getting ready to interview someone awesome next week. Her name is Siobhan McHugh. She’s an award-winning podcast producer from Australia and the author of my favorite book about podcasting “The Power of Podcasting: Telling Stories Through Sound.”
Do you think podcasting requires a unique, creative skillset? I found this interview of her today talking about the art of podcasting and wanted to share it with you. Siobhan sees podcasting as a hybrid of art and journalism… check out this short clip:
I can’t wait to talk to her next week about this very topic - how we (podcast producers, hosts, guests) can work to make our interviews both credible and entertaining.
I promise to get TheFormat back on (monthly) track! Thank you for sticking with me!
Happy Weekend and Happy Holidays!
