Knock me down 3 times, we get up 3 times!
An update from the desk of Flo.
Welp, sometimes life doesn’t go as planned! 🤕🤧
I’ve been planning to get back on the proverbial horse of producing podcasts for over a month now… some unexpected health setbacks met me as soon as I started feeling normal post jaw surgery. Late august, I got hit in my left eye quite hard on a boat when a rope snapped under a lot of pressure. I had to got to the hospital and take steriod eye drops for three weeks. My left eye pupil is still more dialated than my right but it will equal out eventually. THEN I got covid at my dear friend’s wedding on Sept 20th. So I’ve been down for the count for another week or so. I’m feeling pretty good but still have tightness and congestion in my chest and breathing.
SO! Hopefully this constitutes my “three bad things in a row” phase because I’m anxious to feel better and get back to work!
What I’m excited about this fall 🍁
My new podcast about my rare jaw joint disease! Think mystery podcast meets upbeat chat cast for ladies who say “Oh my Jaw!” on a regular basis. This will be the first show I create that is not associated directly with a brand or company. Like most major podcasts, it will be an independent show dependent on audience engagement and (eventually) sponsored advertisements. I’m excited (and a bit scared) to take a stab at this, but know I will learn a lot and, hopefully, create a show that helps a lot of people struggling with their TMJ joint. I saw my surgeon, Dr. Movahed, this week in St. Louis for a follow up appointment and he was very excited and had lots of ideas and topics to add. If you are interested in following along, contributing your knowledge or skills in someway, please join this private facebook group I created to create community around the show! LINK HERE.
Season two of TheFormat pod-blog. In season two I’m working to speak with some of the best podcast producers out there. One question I have for them is how to maintain journalistic integrity while I report on important issues like my rare jaw disease. Again, I didn’t go to journalism school (or haven’t yet) but I want to make sure the information I share on my shows is transparently sourced and validated to some degree. I don’t have a research team or budget but I can do my best to maintain journalistic integrity and I’m hoping to get advice from the best! I also want to interview some folks about how and where to find appropriate podcast sponsors.
How many listeners or followers do I need before I can look for sponsors?
How do I connect with niche sponsors for my niche podcast?
How do sponsors quantify successful podcast marketing on their end?
I’m hoping to get sponsors for my jaw podcast, so this will be something I share about as I learn along the way!
Client work! I’m going to be offering hourly coaching sessions starting mid October. You can sign up a for a free 30 minute consult here if you are curious about working together.
It’s a little delayed, but let’s get it this fall!
